Kampa ("Kampa," "we," "us") is an independent project that builds an iOS and watchOS app for people living with Parkinson's. The app passively monitors movement through Apple Watch and helps a person understand how their daily life relates to their symptoms. This policy covers two separate things: the Kampa website (this site) and the Kampa app.
When you visit this website, we collect limited, standard analytics data to understand how people find and use the site.
Website analytics are used only to understand traffic and improve the site - which pages resonate, where visitors come from. We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not sell it. Email you send us is used only to respond to you.
You can block analytics cookies through your browser settings or a browser extension at any time, with no effect on your ability to use the site. For more on how Google processes this data, see Google's Privacy Policy.
The Kampa app is where health data is involved. This is the part that matters most, and it is built to keep your data with you.
Movement and symptom data
Health and lifestyle data, from Apple HealthKit, only with your permission
Context you choose to add
Your health data stays on your iPhone and Apple Watch, in your personal Apple HealthKit store, and - where you enable it - in your own private iCloud. Kampa operates no servers that receive your health data, and no one at Kampa can access it.
The app contains no third-party analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking. It does not transmit your health data anywhere. Any syncing between your devices happens through your own private iCloud account, governed by Apple's privacy terms - not through Kampa.
If you delete the app, locally stored data is removed from that device. Data in Apple Health and in your iCloud persists until you delete it there.
It is used for one purpose - to help you understand and manage your own symptoms: to show patterns over time, to surface correlations between symptoms and factors like sleep, exercise, food, and medication, and to highlight what tends to precede better or worse periods. All of this analysis happens on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere to be processed.
Kampa does not sell, rent, or share your health data with anyone - not advertisers, not data brokers, not researchers, not anyone. It exists only on your own devices and in your own iCloud.
In line with Apple's HealthKit requirements, HealthKit data is never used for advertising or marketing and is never disclosed to third parties.
The app uses Apple's Movement Disorder API to passively measure tremor and dyskinesia in the background using Apple Watch motion sensors - an API Apple developed specifically for Parkinson's symptom monitoring. The API delivers measurements in rolling 7-day windows, which the app reads and stores locally to build your personal history over time. For accurate readings, the Apple Watch is worn on the more affected arm; this is set during setup and can be changed at any time.
Kampa is in active development. It is first being made available to a small, invite-only group of testers through Apple's TestFlight, and may later be released on the App Store. The data practices above apply throughout. If Kampa ever introduces a feature that involves sharing data beyond your own devices - for example, an optional, anonymized contribution to Parkinson's research - it will be strictly opt-in, clearly explained, and subject to your explicit consent before any data leaves your device. This policy will be updated and users notified before any such change takes effect.
Kampa is not a medical device. It is not intended for, and should not be used for, the diagnosis, treatment, cure, or prevention of any disease or medical condition, including Parkinson's disease. It is a personal tool for self-tracking and pattern awareness. Nothing in the app is medical advice. Any pattern the app surfaces should be discussed with a qualified healthcare provider before you act on it, and medication decisions in particular should always be made with your doctor.
Kampa is intended for adults. It is not directed at, designed for, or intended to be used by anyone under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you rights to know what personal information is collected about you, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its sale (we do not sell personal information). The only personal information Kampa holds is the website analytics described in Part 1 and any email you send us - the app's health data is never transmitted to us, so it is not in our possession to disclose or delete. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@kampa.health.
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, we will update this page and revise the effective date above, and - for material changes affecting app users - notify users before the change takes effect.
