Guide
Protein can compete with levodopa for absorption, so a protein-rich meal near a dose may slow how quickly that dose takes hold. Kampa records the protein in what you eat and checks, on your own record, whether doses taken near a protein-rich meal behave differently from doses that were not. It shows what it finds - including no difference - for you to discuss with your neurologist.

Levodopa reaches the brain through transport systems that some of the building blocks of protein also use. When both arrive together they compete, which is why some people notice a dose acting slower after a large protein meal. How much this matters varies from person to person - which is the reason to look at your own record.
Six things it can correlate against in each meal: protein, starch, fat, fiber, sugar and caffeine. It does not count calories or score your diet. Say what you ate, type it, or scan a package barcode - the barcode catalog is inside the app, so nothing about what you eat leaves your phone.
Whether doses taken near a protein-rich meal - shortly before or just after it - take hold differently from your other doses. It needs enough of both kinds of dose before it says anything, and until then the card says what it is waiting for.
An optional glucose sensor can add your meal response to the same timeline, which can help make sense of a day when a dose seemed slow.
Kampa never tells you to change when you take a dose or what you eat around it. A finding about protein and your doses is something to bring to your neurologist, who can weigh it with everything else.
